Supreme Judgment or Karma?

The path I follow is rather complex compared to some. I don't get to read one book and be told by one Supreme Being what to do and how to do it. I don't get to commit harmful acts, ask forgiveness and assume all is well. The concepts of 'right' and 'wrong' are complicated and governed by Karma rather than judgment by a single Supreme Being.

The thoughts on Karma and how it works are studies unto themselves, but simply put Karma is the law of cause and effect. We get back from the world what we put into it, where the laws of nature govern and natural consequences rule.

In the physical realm these laws can be viewed in a very straightforward manner. If, for example, I leave my bicycle out in the yard without protection and it rains on it for an entire season it will rust. Not because a Supreme Being has judged that I should be punished, but simply because that is what rain and moisture does to unprotected metal. It isn't good or bad, right or wrong, it is just the way it is.

In the same way our thoughts and actions impact the world outside ourselves. Once set out there they are taken for what they are and without any form of 'judgment' attached they affect the state of ones Karma.

In this way I am responsible to surpass the role of the sheep. I have to balance reason and clear thinking with instinct and soul sounds. I have to examine all things with care before either leading or following for either way I am ultimately responsible for my own choices.
