This site is foremost about writing. The power of words to detail, describe and record those things we most need to express. Regardless of the subject or the form we continue to use written language to make sense of the world and our relationship to it. We write about what we think, what we know, what we care about and sometimes what we can only imagine.
I name this site GoddessWriting because much of my own writing is steeped in the search for and exploration of my feminine self in this time and place. I have found that traditional views of religion and gender do not match my experience. In the most basic translation of Goddess I define Her as: feminine energy, feminine spirit, feminine ways of doing, knowing and being.
As for the content of this site and it's effect on reader's I paraphrase from Virginia Woolf, "Perhaps if I lay bare the ideas, the prejudices, that lie behind these works you will find they have some bearing on women and some upon fiction. At any rate, when a subject is highly controversial-and any question about religion/gender is that-one cannot hope to tell truth. One can only show how one came to hold whatever opinion one does hold."
And so:
From the silent whispering of the womb that imprints, without words, to the muted understanding of the child; through the quiet maiden/mother years fragments of silent truth stirs in quest of expression. Until now, the enlightened matron, encouraged by sisters gone before, lends voice to those truths, which rise up from the depths of my woman soul.
