Daughter The Daughter is of course the first stage of a woman's life, the time from birth to pubescence before her first bleeding, before her hormones call her to mate. This is a time of learning and innocence. Her experiences during this time in her life gives her the first clues about who she is and about the rules that govern her life. The stories we write about ourselves as daughters often include the stories of our mothers. It would be difficult for them not to, for our mother's are an intricate part of how we first learned about our world and ourselves. Many women feel that they are who they are as adults either, because of or in spite of their mother's influence. Betsy Foster
