Remind yourself about why you build the altar, the characteristics you wished to enhance or connect to in the first place. You may want to write a poem, chant or prayer that you repeat each day. You may want to light the candles, burn the incense, and touch the things you have placed there. Touch your runes and go over their meanings in your mind, speak their names aloud, whisper them, speak them boldly, take a deep breath and chant their names until you feel the meaning fill you to your satisfaction. Pick up the chalice or bowl or dip your fingers in any actual water you have placed there. Feel and envision water in its differing forms. See it falling gently from the sky, gathering in puddles or lakes, pelting down and running off hurriedly toward the fast moving rivers. Imagine it as ice - pay attention to what it feels like as ice. Watch it melt, transforms into another form. Feel its ability to transform. Choose the things from the list of benefits or remember the reason you wanted a stronger connection to the element Water Meditate on that. Allow your mind to go where it will. Take notes, keep a journal or speak your new thoughts and ideas into a tape recorder. Know that water is always part of your life, the "Source of Life" and the source of your ability to transform, to grow and move from one emotion to another. Imagine the Water that is part of your body, feel it wash through you. Know its importance feel its ability to make changes in your life. As you make new connections to the element Water add the things that represent those changes to your altar. As you awaken to the power of Water in your life note the differences it makes.
