Remind yourself about why you build the altar, the characteristics you wished to enhance or connect to in the first place. You may want to write a poem, chant or prayer that you repeat each day. You may want to light the candles, burn the incense, and touch the things you have placed there. Touch your runes and go over their meanings in your mind, speak their names aloud, whisper them, speak them boldly, take a deep breath and chant their names until you feel the meaning fill you to your satisfaction. Pick up the metal or blade, envision how it came to be in its present form. Feel the heat it took to melt it so it could take on its new shape. Feel its passion. Know the force it wields in driving you to action. Feel its courage, its ability to protect. Choose the things from the list of benefits or remember the reason you wanted a stronger connection to the element Fire and meditate on that. Allow your mind to go where it will. Take notes, keep a journal or speak your new thoughts and ideas into a tape recorder. Know that fire is deep inside you, "The Life Force", that burns at your core, at the core of the earth itself, the whole of the sun that allows life on this planet. Imagine this Fire burning within. Know its importance feel it motivating you, moving you to action. As you make new connections to the element Fire add the things that represent those changes to your altar. As you awaken to the power of Fire in your life note the differences it makes. Betsy Foster | |||
