Sounds including: song, music, poetry, chants, stories, ringing as in bells or chimes. Wind of all kinds. Once your Air Altar is constructed you will want to spend some time with it each day. Remind yourself about why you build the altar, the characteristics you wished to enhance or connect to in the first place. You may want to write a poem, chant or prayer that you repeat each day. You may want to light the candles, burn the incense, and touch the things you have placed there. Touch your runes and go over their meanings in your mind, speak their names aloud, whisper them, speak them boldly, take a deep breath and chant their names until you feel the meaning fill you to your satisfaction. Pick up the feather and envision how it allows the bird to glide on currents of air. Feel your breath, concentrate on how it feels filling your lungs and leaving them. If you have chosen music, chimes, bells or instruments for your altar play them. Listen to the way they sound. Envision the sound carrying on air to you through you and far beyond. Choose the things from the list of benefits or remember the reason you wanted a stronger connection to the element Air and meditate on that. Allow your mind to go where it will. Take notes, keep a journal or speak your new thoughts and ideas into a tape recorder. Know that air is all around you, "The Breath Of Life", your life, all of life. Imagine yourself as this breath. Imagine yourself flying. Watch the sounds you make carried across the room, across the world, out into the universe. Know the importance of Air. Feel it moving throughout your mind, your body, your very soul. As you make new connections to the element Air add the things that represent those changes to your altar. If you go outside and a leaf blows against you bring it to your altar as a reminder of your having taken note of this. Betsy Foster
